Boko Haram attack community in Jere, Borno State

Troops of the Nigerian Army are currently battling with members of the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents around Jamini-Bale Galtimari village, a Shuwa-Arab settlement in Jere local government area of Borno state.

Many residents of Maiduguri around the Polo Area have reportedly scampered for safety following sounds of several gunshots and multiple explosions from the ongoing battle.

A resident of the Polo Area in Maiduguri, Bukar Allamin, who said his relatives fled the area reported that the military in the area were earlier alerted of an impending attack by the insurgents on Sunday evening, prompting soldiers to prepare well for the terrorists.

He said the terrorists eventually made it to the village around 8pm with the intention of stealing foodstuffs and cows, but met stiff resistance from soldiers and members of the Civil JTF, who are currently engaging them.
